Select Your College helps students and families choose a college with real numbers. For every school we show what it costs after grants, how hard it is to get into, how many students graduate, what former students earn and how much they borrow. Then we make the fun parts easy too: saving a list, comparing schools and sharing the big moments with a card.
What we cover
- 2,663 colleges that mostly award associate or bachelor's degrees, each with its own page
- 2,123 trade schools across 19 trades, from welding and HVAC to nursing assistants and cosmetology
- 240 majors and 203 graduate fields, with what graduates earn
- National lists built from published rules, and pages for every state and many college towns
- Free tools: the college match quiz, net price by income, test score fit, GPA, Pell Grant, student loan and 529 calculators, and share cards
Where the numbers come from
Every college and program figure comes from the U.S. Department of Education's College Scorecard, which combines what colleges report to the federal government with federal student aid and tax records. Each page says which year a figure covers. Guides cite official sources with the date we checked them. See where our data comes from and our editorial standards.
What we will never do
- Take money from colleges to be listed, ranked or described differently
- Sell student or parent contact details, or ask for a phone number to see results
- Invent numbers. If the federal data has no figure for a school, we leave it blank.
- Use college logos or mascots. Pictures of campuses are openly licensed photos, credited under each one.
Who it is for
Students comparing colleges, parents working out what college will really cost, counselors building lists with families, and anyone choosing between a college, a community college and a trade school.
