College games

How well do you know America's colleges? Quick games built on real federal data. Play with friends, beat your streak and share your score.

How the games work

Higher or Lower shows one college and a number, such as its acceptance rate or what its graduates earn ten years after starting. Guess whether the next college is higher or lower. Each right answer extends your streak, and your best streak is saved on this device.

Guess the Acceptance Rate gives everyone the same ten colleges each day. Slide to your guess: a perfect guess scores 100 points, and you lose 2 points for every percentage point you miss by. Share your score grid without giving away the answers.

Where the numbers come from

Every number comes from the U.S. Department of Education's College Scorecard: fall 2024 acceptance rates, 2024-25 net prices, graduation rates and earnings of former students. After each answer you can open the college's page to see the full details.

Why play?

The games are a fast way to learn what is normal. Most students guess that colleges are far more selective than they are: the median acceptance rate at 4-year colleges is 77%. Knowing that makes it easier to build a list with good options at every level.
